Here’s what you need to know to feel confident starting therapy.

How do I schedule my first session?

Schedule a 15-minute consultation call via Calendy or email me to discuss your goals. Then we’ll find a time for the first session.

How much does therapy cost?

45-Minute Sessions ($210): Weekly sessions to dive deep into your goals and build progress. Once you’re on track, you can reduce frequency.

30-Minute Check-In ($145):  For clients of 3+ months, a quick session to maintain momentum and stay focused.

15-Minute Micro-Sessions ($75) For established clients needing quick problem-solving, feedback, or support during the week.

Insurance: I’m an out-of-network provider. Monthly superbills are emailed for you to submit to insurance, with many plans reimbursing 60-70% of fees.

How often are sessions?

Sessions are typically weekly, lasting 45 minutes, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, in-person (Alexandria, VA) or virtual.

When is the right time to begin therapy?

There’s no need to wait for the “perfect” moment to start therapy—starting therapy now is a great choice! Seeking help early makes change easier. What will our first therapy session be like?

Our first session is for you to describe your concerns and challenges as well as what you are envisioning as a better future. It’s a low-pressure start, and I’m excited to begin working together!

What comes after our first session?

Most clients meet weekly to start, as regular sessions help build traction and maintain momentum. Each session will build on what we discussed by reviewing the previous weeks goals and identifying changes to try in the upcoming week. 

How long does therapy take to see results?

Everyone’s background, circumstance and goals are unique, so time varies.  Progress depends on your goals, commitment and the challenges your’e facing.  Some experience changes in a few sessions, others take longer. I tailor our work to your needs, ensuring we work at a pace that feels right for you.  

What is the difference between therapy vs. talking to a friend or family member?

Counseling offers a unique space that differs from chatting with a friend or family member, and it’s all about creating a supportive environment tailored to you. I bring a fresh, unbiased perspective to help you see your situation in new ways, without judgment or expectations. I provide a confidential setting where your privacy is protected, so you can share openly without worrying about others knowing your business. Unlike personal relationships, counseling gives you the freedom to express your full range of emotions — whether it’s joy, frustration, and anything in between — without fear of impacting a relationship.  It’s a dedicated time and space just for you to talk, contemplate and find clarity with someone trained to listen and guide you along way.

Is medication alone enough for my challenges?

Medication can help manage symptoms, but it doesn’t address the root of your challenges or change behaviors. In therapy, we’ll work together to build strategies and take action toward your goals. For some, combining medication with therapy is most effective, and I’m here to support what works best for you!

What can I do to get the most out therapy?

I’m thrilled you’re eager to make the most of therapy! Your active participation is key. Since we meet just once a week, the steps you take outside our sessions—like reflecting on our discussions or trying new strategies—really drive your growth. Consider bringing a notebook to jot down insights during our meetings and note experiences throughout the week. This helps us stay focused on your goals and track your progress together. I’m here to support you every step of the way—let’s do this!
